Norfolk-lore
Growing up in the Norfolk countryside, I’d occasionally hear whispered stories about the strange and unexplained. Shadowed woods marked by betrayal, an abandoned windmill said to carry the Devil’s mark, or ghostly screams drifting through the air at midnight.
Whether we believe them or not, these kinds of stories stay with us. They spark the imagination and have a way of being passed down, generation to generation.
It was only later that I realised how deep and unusual Norfolk’s folklore really is. The region holds a rich collection of strange, unsettling and often overlooked tales woven into its history.
Norfolk-Lore is my exploration of those stories. A series of illustrations that bring these eerie corners of Norfolk’s past back into the light.
